About Meadows Shopmobility

Meadows Shopmobility was established in 2003 by a group of people who wanted to help those with mobility difficulties access and enjoy Chelmsford city centre more independently. Since then, the charity has expanded its services to include holiday hire across the UK, offering a wide range of mobility scooters and wheelchairs to suit different mobility needs.

The charity is overseen by a Board of Trustees who are responsible for acting in the charity’s best interests, managing resources responsibly, implementing appropriate financial controls, and ensuring the charity is run with reasonable care and skill.

The day-to-day running of the charity is supported by a part-time Assistant Manager, alongside a dedicated team of volunteers who assist on reception and help with scooter retrieval. Volunteers are at the heart of Meadows Shopmobility, and without their continued support the charity would not be able to operate.

Volunteers

We are supported by a dedicated team of 9 wonderful volunteers who help keep the office running day to day. They are usually your first point of contact, whether speaking to us on the phone or visiting us in person.

Our volunteers play a vital role in supporting customers, assisting with equipment, and helping Meadows Shopmobility continue providing services to the community.

Donations

Meadows Shopmobility is a registered charity and relies on the generosity of local businesses, organisations, and members of the public to help maintain our equipment and continue providing vital services to the community.

There are many ways you can support us, including sponsoring a piece of equipment, supporting our fundraising activities, or making a donation towards our running costs and services.

Every donation helps us continue supporting people to stay independent, active, and connected.
